Coming to bookstores this Wednesday (April 14th) is the beautiful hardcover book “Dan DeCarlo’s Jetta”, compiled and designed by Craig Yoe!
Craig tracked down all of the issues of the rare short-lived series, including some of the original inked art, and put together a really gorgeous book. He also got 37 pin-up artists from all over to contribute original pieces for the book, including Craig McCracken, Bill Presing, Stephen Silver, and Dean Yeagle. I was fortunate enough to be invited to contribute as well, and had a blast doing the pin-up:
Also, here is a progression of the piece, from color comp to rough sketch, inks to blocked in color:
Hey y’all! Over on the Aniboom site, Sesame Street is having an animation contest to create a short cartoon for kids that is either educational, has a pro-social message, or is a recreation of the famous pinball song. So, Bob Harper and I decided to submit a fun little short called “The Letter M” with Bob directing and animating, and myself creating the character designs. Our friend Dave DiMatteo did the audio design and music, and Eric Jenkins did the narration.
If you have a moment, please click on the image below and help rate our short:
Also, here are the original designs for the short:
Coming out this June is the first comic book from 5Finity Productions called “Zombies vs. Cheerleaders”! I had the opportunity to draw one of the three main covers for issue #1, along with Jason Worthington and Jessica Hickman. Here’s the official write-up of the comic, and here’s the cover:
In honor of ten years of the Fullerton Film Festival and The Bomb, the PMC is issuing a limited-edition commemorative sketchbook. This book will include a short history of the club as well as a selection of sketchbook pages from PMC members past and present. There will only be 300 copies made, so if you’re interested order one today!
Books will run $27 a piece, with $5 of each book going towards finding a cure for Machado-Josephs disease, in honor of Mike Williams, PMC’s first club president, who is battling the disease.
It’s been nice going to the L.A. Zoo more regularly with my buds, making me realize I need to draw animals much, much more! Here are some of the pages from the ol’ sketchbook:
